Tony Ardagna Memorial Fish Fry

On Ash Wednesday and every Friday during lent with the exception of Good Friday, the Knights of Columbus serve their famous fish dinners from 5 - 8pm at the Social Hall of All Saint’s Catholic Church.  The menu offers fried (cod) or broiled fish (cod or salmon), french fries, red potatoes, hush puppies, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, green beans and Tony’s famous clam chowder.  Desserts and beverages are also available.  Carry out or dine in.  The cost is $7/$8 for adults ($1 off for senior citizen when ordered before 5:45) and $4 for children.  Come experience this wonderful parish family activity and meet new and old friends and neighbors.

THE HISTORY OF THE LENTEN FISH FRY DINNERS

The now famous Lenten Fish Fry Dinners started in 1997.  Brother Knights Al Garofalo and George Novak approached Tony Ardagna with the notion.

Tony was reluctant, along with Msgr. Kiernan, because of the available facilities and the manpower necessary to make the venture a success.  They were encouraged, however, by council members and decided to move forward with the project.

Tony’s son, Joe Ardagno and Greg Wakham of Taco Mac, a local restaurant chain, worked diligently with the Knights the first year to get the project rolling.  2007 meals were prepared during the first year.  The number of meals increased steadily year after year.  At start of the 2006 season, we dedicated our Lenten Fish Fry to Tony Ardagna, the major contributor to our success who passed away on December 28 2005.

During the 2006 Lenten Season, we served  5621 meals and 1283 clam chowders.
