1. Counseling Services

a) Individual, couple, family, pastoral and group counseling for children,
adolescents, adults, religious and clergy, and the elderly;

b) Pre-marriage Counseling and evaluation for engaged couples in collaboration
with diocesan clergy;

c) Child Guidance Program: Professional and volunteer-based counseling and prevention program in elementary schools; designed to help children and families with social adjustment, behavior and teaming problems before they become resistant to change; and

d) Consultation with elementary and high school teachers about mental health and individual and community trauma as they affect the school.

2. Pastoral Counseling Services

a) Pastoral Counseling combines mental health counseling with spirituality, faith and religion.

3. Pregnancy and Adoption Services

a) Child Placement: Adoption and Foster Care for Infants in need of permanent and/or temporary homes. Licensed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a child placement agency;

b) Support for Problem Pregnancy: Individual and group counseling for birth parents and their families, pre-natal and post-natal; and temporary foster care for infants during decision-making process; and

c) Post-adoption Services: Services to both parents, adoptive parents and adoptees who are seeking post-adoption information, counseling or reunions.

4. Substance Abuse Treatment Services

a) Psychoeducational groups for adult children of alcoholics;

b) Individual and group therapy for individuals and families affected by substance abuse; and

c) Non-medical individual and group counseling and education for youth and adults at high risk of substance abuse. Licensed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

5. Substance Abuse Prevention Services

a) Substance abuse prevention and mental health wellness groups through education regarding peer pressure, self-esteem, decision making, building healthy relationships, etc. licensed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky offered in the schools, parishes and institutions as well as the central office; and

b) Children of Alcoholics support/educational groups in schools.

6. Child Abuse Prevention Services

a) Young Families Center: An educational and therapeutic environment for families with children ages six and under who are at risk for abuse, neglect and exploitation;

b) Family Conciliation Program: Counseling mediation, education and psycho-educational groups for parents and children experiencing divorce;


c) Peacemaking: assisting students, parents and teachers in resolving conflict without violence, anger, or threat; and,

d) Individualized Parenting Consultations for families who are at risk for abuse, neglect and exploitation.

7. Adult Development Services

a) Parenting Education: Courses workshops and talks that address problems of parenting and family life across the life span. Programs are offered at the agency, in the community and at the parish: special education presentations for single parents, step-parents and abusing parents. Over twenty (20) programs are available;

b) Adult Development Consultation: Assistance in developing programs in the community and in the parish which address problems of human growth and development across the adult life span; and

c) Individualized Parenting Consultations for families.

8. Community Organizing Services

a) Community empowerment and convening bringing people together with a
common interest to develop organized responses to self-identified needs.

b) "Insights": An experience of urban poverty for youth and adults who are
interested in serving the economically poor;

c) "National Issues Forum": Structured discussion groups for adults seeking
information concerning social problems, e.g., racism and poverty.

d) Technical Assistance - assisting community groups engaged in addressing
community social issues.

e) Parish Social Ministry: A diocesan-wide effort to consult with Social Concerns
Committees and other interested parties at the parish level around human and
societal need, e.g., housing, hunger, poverty, etc.;

f) Senior Self-Help: A program that convenes senior citizens to advocate for their
own needs;

Values-based program for the spiritual and emotional well-being of seniors; and,

Program for families of seniors in need of special care;

g) Consultation with and convening services for community groups working to
bring the gospel to bear on social change.

h) "Just Faith" is a small group-study, faith-sharing, and social action experience in the peace and justice traditions of the Catholic Faith. This program is modeled off the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults).

9. Housing Support:


Safe Passage Program and Solid Ground Program - A full range of services to persons who are inadequately housed including; task-centered casework and case management with the homeless, landlord / tenant mediation, credit repair counseling, home purchase training and support, home maintenance and repair training.
